Earlier this year I wrote about buying products instead of being one which included using Fever as my RSS reader. It appears that I read the tea leaves correctly, because today Google announced they were shutting Google Reader. Many of my friends have been using Google Reader for a very long time, and while there are stand alone RSS feed readers, not many of then have any sync or at least sync that is not reliant in Google’s syncing. This is going to be a hard shift.
I guess it is hard to monetize RSS.
