I don’t understand people showing off their destop setups. Every couple of days Lifehacker and every other (airquotes: productivity) site has post of someone’s cool desktop, fixed up with GeekTool, a serene background, and a minimalist feel.
Why?
I can barely remember the last time I looked at my desktop. I have tried using GeekTool to have “ambient” information on my desktop, but since I never look there, I never saw it. I don’t use my desktop as an organization space, so there are never files there. If you are doing work, you probably aren’t going to see your serene background.
Not to sound prudish, but we don’t need any more desktop pоrn.
