Deep thought 💭 on Apple’s bigger announcement

Apple announced the 13-inch Macbook Pro, the latest iteration of the iPad and the much anticipated iPad mini. I find the MacBook Pro and the iPad mini compelling, but don’t have a need for them in my life just yet. I don’t think the much was a surprise, photos of parts had been leaked to gadget blogs, so the event was focused on two things, the name and the price. Everyone is covering the event, the hardware and the comparisons, but I think all of the Apple bloggers are missing the biggest, yet subtlest announcement today.

Apple is tired of the gadget blogs.

I think this is evidenced by the fact that they live streamed the event. Rather than have people who are anxiously anticipating their latest product announcement get sucked in early by the gadget blogs and then give the same muck rakers gadget blogs more ad revenue by their coverage of the event, why not short circuit that loop and get their message out to the people who care, without the addition of snarky comments?

I know that my coworkers and I didn’t check any other source than Apple’s for the event, and I for one hope that Apple continues to stream their events in the future.
