Blog weirdness 1

i have been having some issues with the blog theme (the lipstick on this pig) has been reverting to the default. I think the weirdness has to do with a plugin but I can’t figure it out, so I renamed the theme that I like to default. That should solve the issue, please let me know if it doesn’t.

Running from the brink 1

Yesterday, I nearly lost the past 3 years of blog posts. I guess uninstalling a plug-in FUBAR’d1 the whole deal. I managed to dump the contents of the MySQL database, but trick was getting it back in a new / fresh install. I learned a lot about pushing database files around, which will only lend to my current job. Be warned: due to the reinstallation, some of the images and files that were linked to are going to be broken. Send me an email or leave a comment if it is something you need, or want. On another note, today I ran 10 miles. That is the longest I have ever run in one sitting. After today’s run, I have completed 26.5 miles this week. To add to the physical discomfort, I hit the gym on Tuesday and Thursday, which is now the plan. Now I just have to figure out how to decrease the time it took from the span of a week to just around 4 hours.

Notes

Huh? 3

I got an email from Heidi that she couldn’t comment. That should be fixed now. Changed the blog URL… www.jeredb.com and jeredb.com apparently aren’t quite the same thing, even though my hosting should automatically redirect. Oh well. If you’ve tried to comment in recent history and got either a blank page or an error, please comment away.

Shame on me! 2

I have been a bad blogger. I have been a horrible blogger. I have been very lax on posting regularly. Life has been coming very fast and furious and I have barely had a chance to clear my inboxes every night let alone blog. I was in charge of a three day photoshoot last week and then Friday was a total bust due to an off campus interview. I have been missing my Haiku Tuesdays and my other regular postings. For that I am sorry. I promise that after today, I will be back with a vengeance.

Updates, updates… 1

So based on yesterday’s weigh-in, I’m now up to 36% of my weight loss goal! I’m really pumped now

Also, if you’ve been watching the site closely, you will have noticed a yellow fade-out in the top bar. I have been continually updating my tumblelog (RSS), and the above is the link. A tumblelog is

… is a variation of a blog, that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging. Common post formats found on tumblelogs include links, photos, quotes, dialogues, and video. Unlike blogs, this format is frequently used to share the author’s creations, discoveries, or experiences without providing a commentary.

Here is a better definition of a tumblelog as proffered by Leo Laporte on Net@Nite:

Twitter is what you are doing right now, a Tumblelog is a low threshold blog, you post what you find and a blog is something you work on writing and crafting. There are three levels of web engagement
I can’t agree more. In case you don’t know, I do have a twitter account. You can check me out at http://twitter.com/jeredb (RSS), add me as a friend to keep up to date on what I’m doing.

Crud and spit nails!

I’m not liking the upgrade to WP 2.1. So far I have had two oddities.

  1. My formatting got whacked out, after I had upgraded and made all the changes that were necessary.
  2. Now all my pages are gone!

Off to recreate all of my pages…

Blog worth!

I’ve always seen people with these things, but with a masked domain, etc, I’ve never been able to figure out the blogs worth, finally I can!

My blog is worth $1,693.62.
How much is your blog worth?

Mind the falling letters. 1

After a couple of head scratching moments, I think I’ve got all the changes done. I am now on a hosted wordpress blog instead of the “free” version. It could be a little rough over the next couple of days as I continue to smooth out the rough edges, but for the most part, I have gotten it all done. Let me know what you think.

This is going to be extremely hard to write.

John, my father-in-law, died on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at 4:05.

It was not expected and although he was battling cancer, it is believed to be unrelated.

I was going to post all about the bicycle trip, but currently that doesn’t seem appropriate.

Funeral planning is underway, I will post details that are appropriate.

Podcasting Problems

Esther and I posted a couple of times from the lake, but they never appear. I think they are stuck in internet limbo… I hope that I can figure out how we can post before Saturday. I’m going to try G-cast. Check out podcast.jeredb.com for more information.

For real podcast update (on our backup system) check out: http://www.gcast.com/u/jeredb/main.

Make sure to click on the “posts” button in the player to hear all the audio.
