Holy Crap!

If Coke bough Pepsi, or Microsoft bought the world, it still wouldn’t have as big of implications as About Adobe acquiring Macromedia would for me.
Gosh, let’s just sit back and think about this. We’ll have Adobe Freehanded Illustrator (there are some tools in freehand 9 that would be a very nice cross over), We’ll have Dream-Go-Weaver-Live (This is the real let down for me. I am really loving Dreamweaver and I have never gotten the love for GoLive, it just doesn’t seem as efficient). The thing that everyone is talking about is the integration of PDF’s and Flash. This is a great thing for the web. I think that it will make all the flash games you can play more portable, and more integrated, but I worry that this will have implications on the usability of PDF’s for serious design. If it means simply exporting a .swf into a .pdf then that’s fine, but if they are going to fundamentally change the way that PDF’s are created or structured, this could be a problem for print designers. It won’t mean that PDFs can’t be used for print design any more, but it might have implications as to the way files are ripped/prepped for print. It will be very interesting to see what happens to my good semi-friend Macromedia… I wish you luck.
