Run Potion #9 1
Today was the Yorktown Victory Run, an 8 mile race. It was chilly compared to the day before, quite a bummer, and very difficult to dress for. When I got through registering, I had bib number 9, which I felt odd at getting. I am used to professional cycling where the winner from the previous year gets bib #1, the rest of his team gets the rest of the single digit bibs, etc. So for me to have bib #9, either meant that I registered really early, which I did not, or I was lucky, or it was an omen.
The route was good, there were some parts that were a little rougher than I would have thought. Down right trail running, roots, dirt and rocks.
The thing about my run, which was most odd, besides my bib number, was my finishing time. I managed to run the entire 8 miles in 1 hour and 10 minutes plus some change. Un-freak-ing believable. All-in-all, a good run.

Self experimentation 3
I read a couple of stories from a Scientific American series [Via MindHacks] about scientists who experiment on themselves. An interesting read, even if they are biased in the outcome.
The self experimentation ties in nicely with a television program that Esther and I have been watching, I Can Make You Thin. When it was first advertised, I thought it was a load of hooey. “I can make you thin, through the TV.” Watch this promo, it really made me think, “this guy is selling snake oil.”

Ubiquitous capture now in beta
When I was a Windows user, circa 2000 - 2005, I dabbled with Evernote, a very good note aggregator. I only didn’t wholly embrace it because it was tied to a single computer, which locked me into two separate libraries. Sure there are ways to shuttle those files back and forth with USB drives, but I have a tendency to lose things that aren’t the size of a small lunch box (Not my iPod or iPhone yet).
Evernote is slowly releasing a beta of their product, which now has Mac support, a web interface and a syncing feature. The ability to access my clipped notes from the web makes this product a contender in my knowledge management system.
