New Job! 0

Hello Student Affairs colleagues,

I want to take a moment to say thank you to each of you and let you know how much I have enjoyed working with you as a member of the Student Affairs team. You all are a wonderful team, and I consider it a honor to have had the opportunity to work with you. On Friday, March 3rd I will begin a new professional role in University Relations here at CNU. I had hoped to share this information with you in person but I know many of you found out through the grapevine.

In preparation for my transition out of Student Affairs, if you have any work that requires my input, please submit the work to me as soon as possible to allow enough time for the project to be completed. I realize that there could be a large volume of work and as such Donna will be helping prioritize the incoming projects.

If you are worried whether the plasma screens will be updated, do not fear. A student worker is currently being trained as to the workings of the plasma software so please continue to send your requests to me via email, I will ensure they are passed on.

I will miss working with each of you but look forward to the times when our paths cross and the opportunity work together again presents itself. If you are ever in the Administration Building please do not hesitate to stop by.

Your friend and colleague,

Jered

Bode Miller - Shark Jumping 101 0

About 6 months ago, I was introduced to the term “jumping the shark.” Intrigued by this novel phrase, I “wikipedia’d” it and found this:

Jumping the shark is a metaphor used by US TV critics and fans since the 1990s to denote the moment when a TV series is (in retrospect) deemed to have passed its peak. Once a show has “jumped the shark”, fans sense a noticeable decline in quality or feel the show has undergone too many changes to retain its original charm. The phrase was popularized by Jon Hein on his website, jumptheshark.com. It alludes to a scene in the TV series Happy Days when its popular character, Fonzie, is on water skis and literally jumps over a shark.

Bode Miller, Michelle Kwan, I hate to break it to you. but you have definately jumped the shark. Go, retire, stay quiet, and retain the last shred of respect that you have been granted by past performances.

Business Dress 0

It is truely amazing the lengths we go to have a good interview for a new job. We…

  • buy funny clothes that aren’t all that comfortable.
  • get our hair cut
  • have breath mints on hand
  • shine our shoes
  • worry about things in our teeth

It’s even more crazy when we search for jobs in secret.

*More later… hopefully*

Jinx-a-licious 0

Jinx is a cat that we adopted a year and a few months ago. She was very anti-social. She has since become a very social animal and a lot of fun to have around.

Recently, she has started to watch TV with us. Usually it’s nature shows on PBS or Discovery. Yes. She actually watches them. Understands them? Probably not. But enjoys watching flamingos fly? Yes.

Saturday, we were watching Grizzly Man, with Jinx sitting a few feet from the TV enjoying the bears. A scene where a grizzly is scratching it’s back on a tree - Jinx still watching. The bear finishes and begins to walk towards the camera - Jinx is crouching down, ears pulled back, tail huge! Bear sniffs camera - Jinx shoots out of the room, has not returned since.

And I thought Skeleton Key was spooky.

Poor Jinx.
